ABOUT ME

Hello, I’m Ying.

UX researcher & strategist · Vancouver, B.C.

I’m curious about people and how they experience the world. Over more than five years, I’ve brought that curiosity to AI, consulting, gaming, and healthcare. Most recently, my research at Microsoft AI helped improve the Copilot app’s interactions and response quality.

01 / HOW I WORK

Uncovering human stories to influence product direction.

I combine qualitative and quantitative research, from exploring early ideas to evaluating solutions. I help teams uncover unmet needs and connect what people value with business priorities. Working with designers, product managers, and engineers, I turn evidence into shared understanding and decisions about features, roadmaps, and future opportunities.

02 / MY JOURNEY

Bringing a perspective shaped across cultures.

Living and studying in Taiwan, Germany, and Canada taught me to look closely at context. My background spans English literature, a Master of Library and Information Studies at the University of British Columbia, and a UX associate certificate from BCIT. I began in consulting, building skills in business strategy and solving ambiguous problems with stakeholders.

03 / RESEARCH WITH AI

Experimenting with new tools and embedding thoughtful judgment.

I experiment with AI to refine research workflows, from summarizing interviews and exploring patterns to supporting survey analysis. These tools make room for deeper thinking. I keep interpretation and final judgment in human hands, grounding insights in people’s lives and the decisions teams need to make.

04 / BEYOND THE RESEARCH

Taking curiosity everywhere I go.

I take part in Vancouver’s UX and AI communities through mentorship, workshops, and hackathons. Away from work, you’ll find me playing volleyball with friends, skiing, traveling, or wandering through an art museum.
